Flashback Number One

He punched and missed. She barley got hit before she was quick enough to move out of the way. She hit him back but she was blocked by his forearm.

His hood somehow managed to stay in place; hung over his head and casting a shadow over most of his face, leaving only his mouth visible. He stayed calm every single breath that he took. He made no emotion whatsoever.
Akira, however, did.

She showed anger and frustration, and fear. From the very first minute that they began training, Akira had developed a new fear: her trainer. Him, whatever his name was, Akira feared him so much, his strength, his emotionless figure, everything about him seemed to give off a new scent to Akira. It sent her running from her live, but at the same time thriving to become exactly what he, her trainer was. Whatever it was.

They stopped fighting after Akira had taken her final hit. She stumbled for a moment after she landed on the rooftop of the building, but that was the only imperfection. She was inhaling and exhaling deeply. Taking in air as if it was her last meal.

"Calm down Akira." Her trainer spoke slowly and wisely. There was something about his voice that just made Akira listen, and fear him. "You have come a long way from where I found you, you are learning well."

"But Saar," Akira breathed. "I was beat, again!" Akira took another large breath. "I haven't learned much!"

"But you have learned nonetheless. Have you not?"

Her breathing suddenly slowed.

"Trust me, young one." He came closer to her so that they were two feet apart. Akira stood up, straightened her back. "You have evolved."

Flashback Number Two

Her arm was throbbing. She wanted to take a break but Saar was forcing her to continue their training. She couldn't stop gasping for air, she wanted to take a break and breathe but that seemed impossible for Saar to accept.

"Get up." He said as he stood before her. His shadow casted another one ontoher. The day was about to break daw, it was dim and the sky gave off a dark, chalky blue. You could see the moon on the horizon but the sun had not yet set.

Akira stood without question. The last time she had refused to act on his orders, she was thrown into a cement wall. Saar had held her by the neck and acted on punching her until she moved just in the nick of time. Saar was not an easy punisher.

"We will leave after the sun sets." Even though Akira could not see it, Saar looked straight into her eyes. He looked deep into them as if he were trying to figure something out.

Akira's face showed no emotion. Her eyes however showed that she was confused as to why they were leaving. "Are we finished trainging?" Akira asked out of dumbness.

Saar continued to look at her face as his hood hung over his eyes and nose. His mouth formed a straight line as he spoke. "We are finished training..for now. You must learn everything Akira. You must know everything that I know. You must understand the way I understand everything. You must be everything that I am."

Akira's eyes widened a bit but then went back to their normal size. Saar's last sentence was her biggest fear and goal. It was something that she thought she would have to give her soul up to be, but she didn't mind having to do that. She wanted to be what Saar was, she just feared that she might die trying to accomplish it.

"Make the fear fade away child." Saar said as if reading Akira's mind. "There is no need to fear anything that lies before you. Show no fear, and there will be strength."

Akira bowed her head. "Yes Master." There was silence as Saar made his way over the the edge of the rooftop. He looked as if he were gazing not that the horizon, but at the chalky blue sky. There was something in Saar's stance and movement and silence, that made her wonder so, so much.

"Master," Akira said, breaking the silence. "If I may ask, what is our destination?"

"If you are patient Akira, you will know when we get there."

"Yes Master." Akira said again, bowing her head in forgivness.
